PITTSBURGH — New Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker David Anenih (96), who just signed with the team on Thursday, fits into the group during his first practice with the team at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Sept. 15, 2022. Anenih was signed to help replace T.J. Watt, who was placed on the injured reserve list with a pec injury suffered in the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Anenih is an undrafted free agent out of Houston. In his career with the Cougars, Anenih racked up 20.5 sacks, 31.5 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles over his five year career. His best season was a breakout 2021 season, where he put up five sacks, ten tackles for loss, and a forced fumble in 14 starts for Houston. He was named a First-Team All-Conference player in the American Athletic Conference.

David Anenih was undrafted out of Houston in the 2022 NFL Draft, but his performance in the preseason earned him a spot on the Titans practice squad. In three preseason games, Anenih registered three sacks and two forced fumbles, including two fumbles against the Baltimore Ravens. In addition, he racked up two pass deflections and seven tackles overall in the preseason.
