The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Darrius Shepherd to their practice squad, the team announced on Thursday.

Shepherd, 26, is in his third professional season. The 5-foot-11, 186-pound receiver played in 14 games with the Green Bay Packers over the 2019 and 2020 seasons as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State. He caught six of 10 targets for 47 yards with the Packers and also served as a kick and punt returner.

After being waived by Green Bay last December, Shepherd caught on with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent this offseason but was waived on Aug. 31. Since then, he has been on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings, but has not played in a game.

The Steelers have three practice squad wide receivers that are unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols: Anthony Miller, Steven Sims and Tyler Vaughns.
