Steelers Sign former Pitt RB Darrin Hall to Practice Squad

The Steelers have signed former Pitt running back Darrin Hall to their practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday.

The team is experiencing a significant injury pinch at the position, with starter James Conner and top backups Jaylen Samuels and Benny Snell all dealing with ailments. Hall will join Trey Edmunds and Tony Brooks-James in practices this week.

Hall spent the preseason with the Green Bay Packers, where he played in three games and had 10- carries for 39 yards. In his four-year career with the Panthers, the Youngstown, Ohio native had 2,189 yards on 381 carries, including a 1,144-yard season as a senior in 2018.

Hall is in his rookie season and on his fourth NFL team. He originally signed with the Cleveland Browns after the draft as an undrafted free agent. In May, the Browns released him and he was claimed on waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals waived Hall just before training camp, and he was again claimed by the Packers.

To make room for Hall on the practice squad, the Steelers released former Pine-Richland and Youngstown State tight end Kevin Rader.
