The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Jaquarii Roberson to their practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday.

Roberson, 24, spent the offseason with the Dallas Cowboys after going undrafted out of Wake Forest in the 2022 NFL Draft. In two preseason games, he did not have a reception.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver played five seasons with the Demon Deacons. He best season was as a senior in 2021, when he played in 13 games and caught 71 passes for 1,078 yards and eight touchdowns while leading Wake Forest to an ACC Atlantic Division title and ACC Championship Game appearance against Kenny Pickett and Pitt. In total, Robertson caught 146 passes for 2,158 yards over his four seasons with the Deacons.

The Steelers now have at least seven healthy wide receivers available to them for the week of practice leading up to Sunday’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Diontae Johnson is questionable with a shoulder injury and Calvin Austin III must spend at least four weeks on the injured reserve list with his foot sprain, but Chase Claypool, George Pickens, Gunner Olszewski, Miles Boykin and Steven Sims are healthy on the active roster and Roberson will join Cody White on the practice squad.

The Steelers had wide receivers Tyler Vaughns and Tyler Snead from their practice squad available to them, but chose to go outside the organization to add Roberson instead.

To make room for Roberson on the 16-man practice squad, the Steelers placed outside linebacker Hamilcar Rashed Jr. on the practice squad injured list. Delontae Scott is the only other outside linebacker on the practice squad, with four on the active roster.

The Steelers can activate up to two practice squad players for each game and each practice squad player can be called up to the game day roster three times in a season before they must be added to the 53-man roster.
