Steelers Star Player Thinks Jets Treated Aaron Rodgers Unfairly: ‘That Ain’t Business’

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward thinks the New York Jets acted unprofessional with how they handled letting Aaron Rodgers know that he’ll no longer be a member of the organization.
“How can this be praised? This ain’t cool,” Heyward wrote on X in response to the NFL Rumors claiming that fans around the NFL are praising Jets head coach Aaron Glenn for getting Rodgers to fly across the country to tell him he’s not part of their plans.
Heyward’s brother, Corey Heyward, joked, “You better stand up for your teammate.”
Cam Heyward responded, “That ain’t business…communicate with agent if you don’t want deal with it.. has nothin to do with being my teammate.”
Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show last week that he was fired less than one minute into the meeting. The way the Jets handled the entire thing really didn’t sit well with the four-time league MVP.
“I figured that when I flew across country on my own dime that there was going to be a conversation,” Rodgers said. “And the confusing thing to me — and the strange thing — was when I went out there, I meet with the coach, we start talking, he runs out of the room. I’m like, ‘That’s kind of strange.’
“Then he comes back with the GM and I’m like, ‘All right.’ So, we sit down in the office, and I think we’re going to have this long conversation. I’ve flown across the country and, 20 seconds in, he goes … ‘So, do you want to play football?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ And he said, ‘We’re going in a different direction at quarterback.’
“I was kind of shocked. Now I’m not shocked because I didn’t think that was a possibility. Listen, of course, if they want to move on, that’s totally fine, but shocked because I just flew across country. You could have told me this on the phone if we weren’t even going to have a conversation.”
Rodgers said he walked out after 15 minutes and never pleaded for his job, as one media outlet claimed.
“No, hell no. I don’t want any part of that,” he said. “It was already a debacle in some cases. Listen, that whole situation was crazy.”
The Steelers play the Jets at MetLife Stadium in 2025. If Rodgers signs with the Steelers, the storylines will be endless for that game.
