The Steelers have signed wide receiver Tevin Jones to their 53-man roster in advance on Thursday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns, according to agent David Canter.

Jones, 26, has been with the Steelers since January 2018 and has been on the Steelers practice squad since the start of the 2018 season.

The Steelers are short a wide receiver, with Ryan Switzer having been declared out for the Thursday night game after suffering a back injury against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Jones played in all four preseason games for the Steelers this August and made five catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Jones spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans after coming to the NFL as an undrafted rookie out of Memphis in 2016. He has never played an NFL game. In four years with the Tigers, Jones made 90 catches for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Steelers will need to make a corresponding roster move in order to activate Jones.
