The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the New England Patriots in their 2022 home opener in week two of the season on September 18th at 1:00 p.m. It will be broadcasted on CBS.

Under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Steelers are 11-4 in their home opener. Although, they are 1-3 in their last four with the lone win coming in 2020 against the Denver Broncos 26-21.

The Steelers went 6-2-1 at home last season, but both of those losses came in September in their first two home games against the Las Vegas Raiders (26-17) and Cincinnati Bengals (24-10).

The Steelers last played the Patriots in their season opener in 2019 at Foxborough which the Patriots won 33-3. The last meeting between the two teams at Heinz Field was in 2018, a 17-10 Steelers win.

It’ll be the first time these two teams have met without either Ben Roethlisberger or Tom Brady at quarterback since the Patriots beat the Steelers 23-9 in 1998. Drew Bledsoe (Patriots) and Kordell Stewart (Steelers) were the dating quarterbacks.

The Patriots lead the all-time series 17-16 and since Brady entered the league in 2001 they have gone 12-4 against the Steelers and 6-3 in Heinz Field. Of course, Brady won’t be suiting up for the Patriots this upcoming season.

As for their season opener, they will start the season on the road for the eighth consecutive year in week one when they play the Bengals.
