Steelers Waive Promising Edge Rusher
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced multiple roster moves including the waiving of Ade Ogundeji from the 53-man roster.
The On Tuesday, the Steelers announced numerous transactions. Among these moves, the Steelers released edge rusher Ade Ogundeji two weeks after promoting him to the active roster.
Initially drafted with the 182nd pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Ogundeji was cut from his original team after the 2024 preseason. He would be picked up after signing with the Steelers practice squad; reuniting with former coach Arthur Smith. During his time in Atlanta, Ogundeji logged 27 career starts over 32 games. Additionally, he recorded 75 tackles, 3 sacks, and 8 tackles for loss.
In his three game appearances, Ogundeji provided depth after the Steelers experience a plethora of injuries to the EDGE position. He recorded only a pass defense on a batted ball against the Las Vegas Raiders in his limited snaps.
It remains to be seen if he will return to the practice squad. With a spot open on the 53-man roster, expect the Steelers to announce more transactions shortly. Players such as Cameron Sutton, Cole Holcomb, and Brandon Johnson could find themselves back for the second half of the season.
