PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III missed Saturday’s preseason opener and could miss substantially more time with a left foot injury.

It’s not clear when Austin suffered the injury, but he was seen on the sideline with a boot on his left foot, signifying a potentially serious injury. Austin did not dress for the game. He had participated in Thursday’s training camp practice at St. Vincent College.

Austin was one of two Steelers wide receivers that did not dress for Saturday’s preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks at Acrisure Stadium, along with Anthony Miller, who has a right arm injury.

Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson, who have been battling minor injuries, dressed but did not play in the game.

The Steelers’ fourth-round pick out of Memphis, Austin had worked with the second-team offense through most of training camp and also rotated into some first-team packages.

With four receivers out, Steven Sims and Gunner Olszewski joined George Pickens in the starting lineup. Tyler Snead, Cody White and Tyler Vaughns worked as the second team.
