MIAMI — Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson has left the game against the Miami Dolphins with a left leg injury.

It came after Johnson caught a ball and then got tackled by a cornerback slightly coming up under him. Still, Johnson never went into the medical tent and remained on the sideline while wearing his helmet. Johnson looked okay after coming off with trainers. In his place, the Steelers looked to Gunner Olszewski and Miles Boykin to fill some snaps with Steven Sims hurt.

The injury to Johnson may not be long-term and he looks ready to head back onto the field. But either way, the Steelers were forced to punt shortly thereafter. As the team’s key man coverage beater and separator on the field, Johnson is needed for the Steelers offensively.

Miami currently leads the game 16-10 as the Steelers’ offense tries to find a level of rhythm. But Johnson’s injury could hamper plans to get the offense moving swiftly.

UPDATE: Diontae Johnson has returned the game after a brief absence.
