Super Bowl LVII Kelce Brown

Two top-10 passing attacks will go up against one another in Super Bowl LVII, and FanDuel Sportsbook has a weekly special betting prop involving both sides’ premier pass-catchers. They’ve set -200 odds for A.J. Brown to have at least four receptions for the Philadelphia Eagles and Travis Kelce five for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Steelers Now readers receive an exclusive offer when they sign up for FanDuel — a no-sweat bet up to $3,000. A successful bet worth that much at the odds FanDuel has set would net you a total of $4,500.

Sizing Up a Super Bowl Showing

The Chiefs averaged 297.8 passing yards per game in the regular season, good enough for tops in the NFL. That was after they shipped off speedster Tyreek Hill, leaving question marks as to how Patrick Mahomes would fare. Kelce was the other constant in Kansas City’s passing game, having piled up 687 targets from 2017 to 2021.  His 152 targets this year were the most he’d had in one campaign in his nine-year career and the fifth-most in one season in the Chiefs’ history.

Kelce was thrown to 17 times against Jacksonville in the divisional round, tying the mark for the most targets he’d ever had in one game. He had 14 receptions against the Jaguars, seven against Cincinnati in the conference title contest, and has had five grabs or more in all but four of his 19 games this campaign — including six straight.

Meanwhile, Brown’s targets have increased each season since he entered the league as a second-round pick in 2019. The Eagles went Brown’s way 145 times this regular season, second only to Zach Ertz’ 156 in 2018. He’s had at least four receptions in all but two of his 18 outings this year. It’s safe to say Philly found Jalen Hurts a No. 1 receiver in the trade with Tennessee.
