Tyson Alualu Seeing Exciting Things From New Steelers Offensive Line

PITTSBURGH –  The Steelers newly revamped offensive line has expectations that it will lead to a revitalized running game along with the addition of Najee Harris. They also have the advantage of going up against one of the best defensive lines in football. Tyson Alualu was a breakout stud in the early portion of the 2020 season before slowing down thanks to a nagging knee injury. But he and the rest of the defensive line are working to try and sharpen iron with iron.

“We’re really right now just trying to put in the work,” Alualu said. “You know, we’re all out there just trying to get better. We’re doing the same for them and vice versa. We’re just trying to be the best we can be to be the best team.”

Specifically, Alualu was asked about both Kendrick Green and newly signed guard Trai Turner. So far, Alualu has been impressed with what both have brought to the table, but especially with the athletic Green.

“He (Kendrick Green) is very athletic,” Alualu said. “He can get to the edge quick. That’s definitely a plus for him. He’s a great fit in this offense and for this team.”

Alualu noted that Green clearly belongs. However, on the topic of Turner with his pedigree, Alualu has been impressed by the mentality and play that Turner has put on the football field thus far.

“Trai is a true pro,” Alualu said. “I’ve watched him and been a fan of the way he plays. I’m just glad we get to have him on our team.”

Adrian Klemm has talked about the aggressiveness on the offensive line as a key part of their growth for months at this point. There seems to be a want for physicality in that room. Alualu so far is seeing that same fire that the offensive line is bringing to the table.

“I can see Coach Klemm coaching that up,” Alualu said. “It’s a little tough to say with everybody not on the field yet, but you can see the whole mentality of the group is to be aggressive. They are going out and getting after everything. That’s why you see some of those battles here.”

Alualu is clearly seeing a shift in what the Steelers are bringing to the table as an offensive line. With lots of young talent and a new mentality via Klemm, the offensive line looks to be revamped this year. That does not necessarily mean they will be above the line, but change is clear.
