Mitch Trubisky was bound to throw an interception at some point while wearing the black and gold.

Early Sunday in the Steelers’ Week 2 showdown vs. the Patriots at Acrisure Stadium, it happened.

With the Steelers driving, Trubisky stared down Diontae Johnson over the middle of the field, then this happened:

Not a great throw. Not a great decision. Not a great result for the Steelers.

This came after Trubisky got stiff-armed to Lawrenceville earlier in the game, too.

Tough go for his Acrisure Stadium debut thus far.

The interception marked the first turnover by Trubisky as a member of the Steelers. And luckily for him, it didn’t directly cost the team too much.

Taking possession after Trubisky’s interception, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones got crushed by Alex Highsmith as he threw, and Minkah Fitzpatrick cleaned up in center field.

That’s two picks in two games for Fitzpatrick to start the 2022 season. You may remember he blocked a game-winning extra-point attempt in Week 1, too.

Not a bad start to the season for No. 39.

Trubisky, meanwhile, bounced back from the interception with a decent drive before stalling in Patriots territory. The team settled for a 36-yard Chris Boswell field goal to tie the game at 3-3 with 8:35 left in the second quarter.
