Vontaze Burfict Challenges Le’Veon Bell to Fight in the Octagon

Vontaze Burfict has responded to Le’Veon Bell after Bell said he would like to box to Burfict on Sunday night.

In a tweet posted by former Bengals cornerback and Burfict’s teammate Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, Burfict does not want to box Bell, but would rather meet him in the octagon instead, where kicks, elbow strikes, and other maneuvers would be allowed aside from just punches.

“I just talk to Tez, he said fuck boxing but he will fight you in the octagon ?????? I got a 100k on Vontez we air it on @PatMcAfeeShow show !!! @LeVeonBell ???? have your people call me,” Jones tweeted.

Bell responding, saying that the doesn’t wrestle, so things may be an impasse for now.

Bell, while joining the Misfits Boxing podcast on Sunday, tweeted out a clip that accused Butfict of intentionally injuring him during his career.

“There is, it’s just that this person is not a boxer,” Bell said. “It’s someone from football. They had purposely injured me. I don’t think I want to say the name, but people who watched my career when I hurt my knee, people know. Yeah, people know. I would love to put my hands on him in the ring.”

Bell is referring to former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who tore Bell’s MCL with a hip drop tackle in November 2015. Bell said after the game that he thought the Bengals were intentionally trying to injure him and Steelers linebacker Vince Williams said that he heard Burfict brag about the hit.

Bell would then miss the entire 2016 playoffs as the Steelers would be eliminated in the divisional round by the eventual Super Bowl champions in the Denver Broncos. Backup Fitzgerald Touissant had just 39 yards on 12 carries and a costly lost fumble while Bell could only watch.

Over his career, Burfict developed a reputation for dirty tackles, including a hit on Antonio Brown in the 2015 NFL playoffs. Throughout his career, Burfict would receive multiple suspensions for dirty hits. Burfict has not played in the NFL since incurring a 12-game suspension from the league in 2019 after a helmet-to-helmet hit against Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle.
