The first image many Pittsburgh Steelers fans have of Broderick Jones, the team’s first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was when the television cameras cut to him and his family, sitting on a couch, waiting for his name to be called during the first round of the draft on Thursday night.
That night, after Jones got a call from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to start a whirlwind process of him coming to Pittsburgh to be introduced as the team’s top draft pick, they’re wasn’t a lot of time for his family to talk to him. So they made him a video message that Jones was able to watch after the fact.

Jones, 21, was born in Atlanta and grew up in the Stonecrest, Georgia area before playing his college football just an hour away in Athens, Georgia with the Bulldogs. So he’ll be away from home and his family for the first time as a young professional with the Steelers this year.
