When Will Steelers Make a Quarterback Move? | Steelers Morning Rush

Steelers

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the situation at quarterback.

The top Pittsburgh brass Art Rooney II and Mike Tomlin both made it pretty clear in their post-season press conferences that they’re likely to sign one of incumbent passers Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. But they haven’t decided publicly which one they’re going to sign, and of course, they haven’t done anything yet.

What’s the holdup? And what’s the likely timeline for the team to re-sign any of its pending free agents? The players likely want to try to wait until the free agency contact period opens in March, while the team will probably want something done well ahead of time. Alan breaks it down.
