Who Would Win a Pittsburgh Steelers Open? Eric Ebron Says It’s Him

PITTSBURGH — T.J. Watt is not the best golfer on the Pittsburgh Steelers, that much he’s painfully aware of.

Watt has made his troubles with the crooked sticks pretty public this offseason, and on the first day of minicamp, said he was enlisting cornerback Joe Haden to help fix his swing before a match with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

But if Watt is not the best golfer on the club, who is?

Tight end Eric Ebron isn’t shy about throwing his hat into the ring.

“I think I’m the best golfer on this roster,” Ebron said on Thursday. “I’m gonna just go out there on a limb and say that truthfully, honestly, I think I am. Whoever wants to see me get their money took out there on the golf, all friendly bets, I’m with whatever.”

With the Steelers off for a month in between June’s minicamp and July’s training camp, Ebron should have some time coming up to hit the links, but he said that’s more of an early offseason activity for him.

“I love the game, but I think this month is my chill out month,” he said. “I think I’ve had more fun with golf. It’s time for me to really get into cardio and bringing my physicality up for the upcoming year. So yeah, I’ll hit the links a little bit of course, because it’s my getaway. It’s my freedom. But I’m the best golfer and I won’t be playing a lot.”
