Alan gives his perspective on why Johnston’s big leg might not be as much of an asset as it might seem at first glance, especially if the team isn’t better able to cover them downfield.
He also talked about how nearly all punts are bad from an Expected Points Added standpoint, and a conservative in-game coach like Mike Tomlin punting more, because of greater confidence in Johnston compared to Pressley Harvin III, might be a net negative.
