INDIANAPOLIS — Wisconsin inside linebacker Leo Chenal met with Steelers coaches in a formal meeting at the 2022 NFL Combine, he said to the media Friday.

Chenal has played with current Steelers defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk. It has long been known that the Steelers are an easy scheme for Wisconsin players to transition to at large. The Jim Leonhard scheme is very similar to the one that Mike Tomlin employs. As a result, Chenal should be seen as a prime mid-round target for the Steelers to get. He acknowledged as much that he has plenty of familiarity with T.J. Watt and Loudermilk.

“I have talked to T.J. a little here and there,” Chenal said. “I know how busy he is, but just little questions, just ask him for advice. He’s a guy that’s super helpful wanting to help the next generation the next guys up. Isaiahh, I played with him a little bit in Madison. He’s just a funny dude, kind of like me, kind of quiet, but he is a funny dude. I still talk to him.”

Chenal knows that those connections could lead to the Steel City. Still, he is a run stopper with athletic upside in coverage. He could be just what the Steelers ordered.
