Jack Campbell has been connected to the Steelers at every angle in the 2023 NFL Draft process, and that does not mean that the possibility is not on the minds of top analysts everywhere about how much sense the move makes.

Pittsburgh, including Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan, went westward to see Campbell and several other prospects in Iowa City for their pro day. He worked out in addition to top prospect Lukas Van Ness, but Campbell is a guy the Steelers have seemingly been interested in at every turn of the process.

So, who is the fan of the move before it could even happen? Fox Sports color commentator loves the idea of Jack Campbell landing with the Steelers on the Joel Klatt show, stating that the moves simply make too much sense for the Steelers to not make at this juncture.

“I really think I love the pick Jack Campbell, linebacker for Iowa, going to the Pittsburgh Steelers around 49,” Klatt said. “They have first-rounder, two second-round picks, 32 and 49, and I’m looking at Jack Campbell, and I’m like, ‘Captain Jack in a Steelers uniform makes a lot of sense.”

Over his career, Campbell has been a captain on the Iowa defense, one of the themes the Steelers seem to be targeting this year in the NFL Draft. As for his scouting report, Klatt gave a glowing review of the thumper out of Iowa, and thinks that fits with the mentality the Steelers employ.

“This guy is big. Listen, I would love if he ran a little bit better, but when you watch the tape he moves better on tape than what he would do in a 40-yard dash,” Klatt said. “He plays fairly fast. He’s a really smart player. He makes every play you need him to make, he’s a sure tackler, he’s the type of guy that can come in and eventually be the captain of your defense.”
