The 2024 UFL season kicked off on Saturday, and there are 24 former Pittsburgh Steelers player and a few coaches on the opening day rosters for the new spring league.

The UFL was formed for this season as part of a merger between the XFL and the USFL, and it is the lone spring professional football league operating this season, with eight team, four from the former XFL and four from the former USFL.

The Pittsburgh Maulers, who played the 2023 spring season in Canton, Ohio, did not make the cut of teams, as the two combined leagues shrank from 16 teams to eight this spring, though UFL vice president Doug Whaley told Steelers Now this offseason that the league hopes to expand again for 2025.
