Steelers’ Win Over Ravens Historically Improbable
Not only did the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 28-24 on Sunday to remain undefeated, but they made some unlikely history in the process.
With their defeat at the hands of the Steelers, the Ravens became the first team since 1950 to outrush an opponent by over 200 yards and outpass them and still lose.

Baltimore rushed for 265 yards Sunday, while Pittsburgh mustered just 48 on the ground. The Ravens outpassed the Steelers 192 to 173.
Overall, the Ravens outgained the Steelers 457 to 221 in total yards on the afternoon.
Since 1933, teams that had 250 rushing yards or more and doubled their opponents’ total yardage had a combined record of 215-1-1.

While the Steelers may have given up their largest yardage total since Week One of last season, it was their four huge takeaways by linebackers that swung the game in their favor.
Steelers inside linebacker Robert Spillane had a pick-six and a fumble recovery, while rookie outside linebacker Alex Highsmith had an interception of his own. Inside backer Vince Williams also recovered a fumble forced by edge rusher Bud Dupree in the first half.
