Report: Steelers to Sign Former Vikings, Cardinals Center Mason Cole to Three-Year Deal

Cole comes to the Steelers having started 39 games over his first three years in the NFL. He played in 60 games, registering snaps at center, right guard, and left guard. Playing at Michigan, Cole played at tackle, however, was kicked inside as a result of only having 32 1/8 inch arms.
In over 500 snaps, Cole allowed two sacks on the season last year. Cole was traded to Minnesota for a sixth-round pick prior to the 2021 season from the Cardinals. Cole was a third-round pick in 2018 and started all 16 games his rookie season after A.Q. Shipley tore his ACL.
So, with the onboarding of Cole and re-signing of Chuks Okorafor, the Steelers now have options on the interior of the line. Kendrick Green could stay at center or push to guard thanks to the versatile Cole. In addition, the Steelers could still add a center or guard through the draft like Tyler Linderbaum, Kenyon Green, or Zion Johnson. The Steelers still need to bolster this unit, so it would be to little surprise if they continued to do so.
