Steelers Daily Links: Robinson Gets Extra Work with Pickett; Ogunjobi Talks Team Culture
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt said on Ben Roethlisberger’s podcast that he’s “very encouraged” with the direction of the Steelers’ defense.
“I think it’s still too early to have a true sense of ‘This is the year,’ because they always say you don’t want to be the guy who’s just crushing it with no pads on — you don’t really know the personality of everybody yet,” Watt said. “So it’s too early for that, but I’m very encouraged with the direction we’re going, especially on the defensive side of the ball, which is what I can speak for. Guys are flying around, having a lot of fun, communicating and making a lot of those splash plays, and that’s all you can really ask for this time of year.”
? Pro Football Talk: Steelers wide receiver Allen Robinson said he plans on working out with Kenny Pickett in New Jersey this summer prior to the start of training camp.
“That is the plan,” Robinson said this week, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “We’ve talked it through. We’re both in New Jersey, so it can happen.”
? All Things Covered podcast: Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson shared an interesting story on how he got the approval from Kenny Pickett.
“I got the approval from the starting quarterback who’s seen a bunch of coverages in his young career,” Peterson said. “What did he say? He said, ‘Man, when you lineup at this certain position that f**** me up.’ I said, ‘OK.’ So, I plan on making a lot of plays this year.”
