PITTSBURGH — Three Pittsburgh Steelers players will have a chance to return to action this week against the Dallas Cowboys, including running back Jaylen Warren, after missing or leaving their Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts due to injury, head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday.

Kick returner and running back Cordarrelle Patterson, tight end MyCole Pruitt and running back Jaylen Warren all have a chance to get back into action this week, but it will depend on their participation in practice, which Tomlin said is still up in the air.

“Guys who are working their way back to us, and we’ll let their participation and the quality of that participation be our guide in terms of their inclusion,” Tomlin said of the trio of injured players.

Patterson suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Steelers’ 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He walked off the field under his own power, but was taken to the locker room on a cart and did not return to the game.

Patterson has been the team’s starting kickoff returner, and with Warren out, moved up to No. 2 on the depth chart at running back. Before his injury against the Colts, he had six carries for 43 yards in his most extensive playing time of 2024. He had four rushes for 33 yards the previous week against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Warren was pulled from the Week 3 win over L.A. after Tomlin noticed that he was limping, and he did not practice at all in the week leading up to the Colts game. He has a knee injury that Tomlin said is not related to his previous hamstring injury.

With Warren out, Aaron Shampklin was called up from the practice squad against the Colts.

Pruitt has not practiced since suffering a right knee injury in the team’s Week 2 win over the Denver Broncos. He’s been replaced by Rodney Williams II in the team’s lineup.

Tomlin ruled out guard James Daniels (Achilles) and outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin) for this week. Daniels is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
