Jets LB Receives Massive Fine for Illegal Hit vs. Steelers
The NFL fined New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams $45,020 for unnecessary roughness/use of the helmet in Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was the biggest fine of Week 7 in the NFL.
Williams led with his helmet on a tackle on Jaylen Warren during a play near the goal line in the third quarter. It looked like there were a skirmish after the play, but there was no penalty called on the field. Williams’ fine was certainly hefty for a play that wasn’t downright egregious.
“How am I supposed to make this tackle? My shoulder ain’t that far from my head. He lowering his helmet to make contact with me. I WILL NOT GET RAN OVER!!!” Williams wrote on X, while also calling today’s game flag football and two hand touch.

Jets defensive lineman Leonard Taylor was also fined $4,435 for roughing the passer on Russell Wilson. The infraction was not called during the game. The NFL deemed Taylor’s hit as an illegal hit to the head or neck area.
Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was not fined for his unnecessary roughness penalty on Jets running back Breece Hall in the first quarter. Ogunjobi slammed Hall to the ground after the whistle had blown. Ogunjobi was penalized for the late tackle.
It’s the second straight week that no Steelers players were fined. wide receiver George Pickens and slot cornerback Beanie Bishop were fined after the Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys. In total, Pickens was fined $20,463 from the Cowboys game for his profane eye black message and yanking Cowboys cordnerback Jourdan Lewis by his facemask. Bishop was docked $4,463 for a facemask penalty.
