The North Shore home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers football will have a new name in 2022, as the former Heinz Field will be renamed Acrisure Stadium in a new naming rights deal, according to a report by Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan. Terms of the deal have not been reported.

Heinz had held the stadium’s naming rights since it was built in 2001. The 20-year deal between Heinz and the Steelers was extended for one year for 2021, but the two sides could not agree on a long-term extension. Heinz merged with Kraft in 2015 to form Kraft Heinz.

Acrisure is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based insurance broker worth $23 billion, according to an Axios report earlier this year. The company was founded in 2005 and is led by CEO Greg Williams.

The naming rights deal is the sixth for a Pittsburgh professional sports stadium. Heinz Field‘s North Shore neighbor has been called PNC Park since it was built. The uptown home of the Pittsburgh Penguins has had two naming rights deals since being built in 2010, first with Consol Energy and now with PPG Paints. Insurance provider Highmark has had its name on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, South Side stadium since its inception.

Acrisure purchased Pittsburgh-based Tulco LLC’s artificial intelligence business in 2020, giving it a present in the region for the first time. Tulco is owned by minority Steelers owner and billionaire filmmaker Thomas Tull.

UPDATE: The deal between the Steelers and Acrisure is a 15-year contract to rename Acrisure Stadium, the club announced.
