CLEVELAND — Star outside linebacker Alex Highsmith headlines four inactive players for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Thursday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns.
Highsmith was listed as inactive for Thursday’s game, along with running back Jonathan Ward, offensive lineman Max Scharping and wide receiver Scotty Miller.
Highsmith will miss his second consecutive game with a sprained left ankle suffered in Week 10 against the Washington Commanders. With the extra time off after the Thursday Night Football game, Highsmith will attempt to return for Week 13 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Nick Herbig is expected to make his fourth start of the season in place of Highsmith, with Preston Smith also playing a good bit. Jeremiah Moon is set to be the No. 4 outside linebacker.
The rest of the Steelers’ inactives are healthy scratches. Ward has played in four games this season while bouncing between the active roster and the practice squad. The Steelers have three running backs dressed: Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson.
Scharping has been dressed for just one game this season as a reserve interior offensive lineman. Calvin Anderson, Spencer Anderson and Ryan McCollum are all dressed as backup offensive linemen.
Miller has played in nine games this season, and was among six wide receivers dressed last week against the Baltimore Ravens. He was scratched this week as the Steelers dressed tight end MyCole Pruitt, who missed last week’s game with an injury. George Pickens, Mike Williams, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III and Ben Skowronek are the five receivers dressed.
Kyle Allen will once again serve as the emergency backup quarterback.
