Another Draft Analyst has Steelers Going QB at Pick No. 21
CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco believes the Pittsburgh Steelers will select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.

There is a growing belief around the NFL that the Pittsburgh Steelers will use their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on a quarterback. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks no different.
In Prisco’s latest mock draft, he has the Steelers selecting Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart at pick No. 21.
“It doesn’t matter if they get Aaron Rodgers or not, they have to address the quarterback of the future,” Prisco writes. “Dart could watch for a year as he adjusts to the NFL and then take over. Rodgers would be a stop-gap fix anyway.”
Dart has been rising up draft boards over the past couple of months, but he is currently the consensus No. 33 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database big board and the Steelers had other interesting options still available in Prisco’s mock draft.
Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, who many have pegged as the top wide receiver in the class, Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden and Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka were all still on the board.
However, Prisco, like many others, seems to believe the Steelers desperation at quarterback would outweigh everyone else.
Dart is an intriguing prospect. He is only 21 and has thrown for 10,617 yards, 72 touchdowns and 22 interceptions over the past three years at Mississippi. He also rushed for 1,500 yards and 12 more scores.
But the Steelers did not pay much attention to the quarterbacks, including Dart, at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile. Not to mention, the 2026 NFL Draft is also supposedly rich with quarterback talent.

So the Steelers are really looking for a placeholder for the 2025 season until they can add a younger talent to the room next year. Rodgers or another veteran will likely be that.
So while Dart would be an interesting pick for the Steelers, using that pick to address another position of need makes much more sense.
