Another QB Domino Falls: Daniel Jones Joins AFC South
Minnesota Vikings free-agent quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to sign with the Indianapolis Colts for the 2025 season.

Another quarterback is off the board for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Minnesota Vikings free-agent quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to sign with the Indianapolis Colts, according to multiple reports.
Jones is finalizing a one-year, $14 million deal with the Colts and will challenge Indianapolis’ former first-round pick Anthony Richardson for the starting job, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The 27-year-old never seemed to be a top option for the quarterback-needy Steelers, but with Sam Darnold joining the Seattle Seahawks and Justin Fields jumping ship to the New York Jets, that option was becoming more and more of a possibility.
Jones has never really lived up to expectations as the No. 6 overall pick in 2019. In six seasons, he has thrown for 14,582 yards, 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

That looked like the case once again in 2024 as he completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 starts with the Giants before the team ultimately released him. He then signed to the Vikings practice squad before being promoted to the 53-man roster in January.
Jones’ signing only puts more pressure on the Steelers to make a decision at quarterback. It seems like the choice is between veterans Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.
Wilson has already expressed his interest in returning to Pittsburgh in 2025 while the New York Giants seem to be trying to sign Rodgers as well.
Either way, the sooner, the better because the Steelers still have several other holes to fill on their roster and many free agents have already been scooped up around the league.
