Atlanta Falcons Emerge as Big Favorites to Land Justin Fields, Trade Odds Taken Off Board

The Atlanta Falcons are emerging as a commanding favorite to land Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

The Falcons had passed the Steelers as the betting favorite to be the next team for Fields, who the Bears are actively trying to trade during the NFL Combine this week.

A report by NBC Sports Chicago on Tuesday confirmed that the Falcons have been in touch with the Bears about the price of acquiring Fields.

Wednesday morning, oddsmaker FanDuel Sportsbook removed odds on Fields’ next team, with the Falcons as the odds-on favorite at the time the odds were taken down.

The Bears do have other options beside trading Fields, including keeping him as their quarterback and trading out of the No. 1 overall pick, where USC quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to be the selection. But general manager Ryan Poles did not seem high on that idea on Tuesday.

“It’s hard to say right now,” Poles said. “But it’s gotta help our organization significantly to move around, because we saw what it did last year. And I’m looking for that type of return ticket to improve our football team.”

The Steelers have been repeatedly linked to Fields, but there have been no serious reports of general manager Omar Khan having conversations with the Bears about acquiring Fields.

The Steelers are expected to enter the 2024 season with Kenny Pickett their starting quarterback, and while Mike Tomlin promised “competition” for the role, that will likely not come in the form of a player like Fields, who will likely cost a Day Two draft pick and will need to have a $23-million option guaranteed this May.
