Baltimore Ravens Sign All-Pro CB Kyle Fuller

Ravens CB Kyle Fuller

The Baltimore Ravens are adding former All-Pro cornerback Kyle Fuller, as the free agent has agreed to sign with the team, as first reported by PFF’s Ari Mervov Tuesday afternoon.

The Ravens are reportedly signing Fuller to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Fuller is a Baltimore native, playing at Mount Saint Joseph High School in the city. He then played at Virginia Tech, making the All-ACC Second-Team in 2011 and the All-ACC Third-Team in 2013. He stood out to scouts at the NFL Combine and the Chicago Bears drafted him at the 14th pick of the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fuller started out his time in Chicago by making the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2014. His most successful season occurred in 2018, where he led the NFL in 21 passes defended and tied for the most interceptions in the NFL with seven. That led Fuller to make the First-Team All-Pro and the Pro Bowl. Fuller didn’t have as good of a season in 2019 the next year in terms of passes defended or interceptions, but increased his tackles to a career-high 82 combined tackles, helping him to again make the Pro Bowl.

The Bears released him after the 2020 season and Fuller signed a one-year $9.5 million contract with the Denver Broncos for the 2021 season. He saw limited playing time due to poor play and the emergence of cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Nate Hairston.

The addition of Fuller for the Ravens is the process of a long overhaul of their secondary from last season, after they allowed the most passing yards in the NFL last season.

The Ravens drafted All-American Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton at the 14th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. They also added former New Orleans safety Marcus Williams to a five-year $70 million contract in March. Baltimore also gets help from returning cornerbacks Marcus Peters, who missed last season after tearing his ACL in early September, and Marlon Humphrey, who missed most of December after tearing a pectoral muscle after the 20-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.

The additions of Hamilton and Williams, plus Peters and Humphrey returning from injury will benefit Fuller and safety Chuck Clark in what should be a solid secondary for Baltimore next season.
