Bears Sign Do-It-All Former Steelers Wide Receiver
The Chicago Bears have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Miles Boykin, the team announced on Thursday. The contract is for one season and the terms were not announced.
Boykin, 28, spent time with the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks during the 2024 season, but did not appear in a game. He played in 33 games for the Steelers over the 2022 and 2023 seasons, working mostly as a special teamer and blocking specialist at he wide receiver position.
In 2023, he appeared in all 17 regular season games and the team’s playoff game. He was dressed as the club’s No. 5 wide receiver for the entire season, but was used sparingly in the passing game. Boykin finished with three catches on four targets for 17 yards. In his 85 offensive snaps, he was used primarily as a run blocker. Boykin also saw significant playing time as a special teamer, playing on four phases. He finished the season with five tackles.
Originally a third-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens out of Notre Dame in 2019, he had his best statistical season with the Ravens in 2002, the he caught 19 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns.
Injuries limited him to eight games in 2021 and the Steelers claimed him off waivers in April 2022. He re-signed with the Steelers on a one-year deal for 2023.
The Steelers replaced Boykin in 2024 with Ben Skowronek, who filled a similar role for the team. Skowronek was re-signed this offseason to a two-year contract through 2026.
A native of Tinkey Park, Illinois, the move to the Bears will be a homecoming for Boykin. The Steelers will visit the Bears in 2025.
