Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger left his team’s game just before halftime against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Roethlisberger took a hit on his left knee during the Steelers’ penultimate drive of the first half, but stayed in the game and directed a touchdown drive, finding James Washington in the back of the end zone after a pump fake for a 17-yard score.

Following the touchdown, Roethlisberger left the field to go the Steelers locker room. When Minkah Fitzpatrick grabbed a Dallas fumble to unexpectedly get the Steelers the ball back, Mason Rudolph entered the game at quarterback.
The Steelers said that Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room for evaluation and is expected to return for the second half.
Rudolph went 2 of 3 for 3 yards in his first passing action of the 2020 season. He played briefly in the Steelers’ win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. He played in 10 games and made eight starts a year ago while Roethlisberger missed most of the season after undergoing elbow surgery.
