Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may have had a serious shot at winning NFL MVP at one point last season, but oddsmakers do not believe he has much of a chance in 2021.
DraftKings Sportsbook unveiled their odds for 2021 NFL MVP and have Roethlisberger at +10000 or 100/1.
While that certainly makes Roethlisberger a long shot, the more notable story is the quarterback who have the same or better odds than the Steelers signal caller.
The Panthers’ Sam Darnold, Washington’s Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Giants’ Daniel Jones and Saints’ Taysom Hill are all tied with Roethlisberger at 100/1.
Notable players with better odds than Roethlisberger are Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (+6000) and Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (+6000). Even 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who’s replacement Trey Lance was selected in the first round just this April, has better odds at +8000. Lance is also tied with Roethlisberger at +10000.
Roethlisberger, who turned 39 in March, threw for 3,803 yards and 33 touchdowns with ten interceptions last season.
Not only has Roethlisberger never won an NFL MVP, but he has also never received a single vote for the league’s highest individual honor.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win the award at +450.
