The Bengals are adding some depth to their defense from the practice squad for Saturday’s game against the Steelers. Cincinnati signed defensive tackle Domenique Davis from the practice squad to the active roster after D.J. Reader’s season-ending knee injury.

Davis has played in two games in his career and recorded three tackles. He was undrafted from UNC Pembroke in the 2020 NFL Draft, where he signed with the New York Jets. Since 2020, Davis has floated around, joining the Houston Gamblers of the USFL in 2022. Since that time, he joined the Bengals in 2022 during training camp.

In addition to signing Davis, the team is elevating wide receiver Shedrick Jackson and cornerback Sidney Jones for the team’s game. They need depth at wide receiver after losing Ja’Marr Chase, who has a shoulder injury. Trenton Irwin and Andrei Iosivas should fill in for Chase as the third receiver, while Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd see increased roles.

Meanwhile, Jones is a veteran in the NFL who has been around for years. Injuries have hurt Jones and sapped some of his athleticism, but the Steelers should expect at least a capable player. Jones is elevated since the team lost Cam Taylor-Britt and D.J. Ivey to injuries at the position.
