Bengals Get Huge Injury Boost vs. Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is expected to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, despite being listed as questionable with knee and ankle injuries.
“He should be good to go,” ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter on Friday evening. “The Bengals are optimistic that on his knee and ankle issues that he fought through last week, that’s he’s trending in the right direction.”
Higgins left the Bengals’ game against the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago, but was able to return to play late in the game. He was limited in practice in week leading up to Cincinnati’s Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos and was also listed as questionable for that contest, before suiting up.
Despite the injuries, he played 62 offensive snaps in the overtime victory and had his best statistical game of the season, catching 11 of 12 targets for 131 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in the extra period.
Higgins was limited in practice all three days this week before being listed as questionable on the team’s injury report on Thursday.
The Bengals will definitely be without rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who would have likely filled in for Higgins, if he was unable to play. Burton did not travel to Pittsburgh with the Bengals due to a coach’s decision.
Depth receiver Charlie Jones is also questionable with a groin injury. Slot man Andrei Iosivas and undrafted rookie Isaiah Williams will round out the Cincinnati receiving corps against Pittsburgh.
Running back Chase Brown (ankle), tackle Amarius Mims (ankle/hand), tight end Drew Sample (groin) and cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt (ankle) are all also questionable to play.
