Najee Harris Pittsburgh Steelers Prop Bets
Najee Harris Runs Out of Tunnel for Steelers Game in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers will make their home debut coming off of two road victories to start the season. The matchup will have two of the NFL’s top-scoring defenses with the Los Angeles Chargers rolling into town. There is a plethora of Steelers player and team prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook. Here are a few of the best prop bets to make for the Steelers-Chargers week 3 matchup.

Najee Harris yards OVER 51.5 YDS at -120

There’s no doubt who the bell cow on this offense will be: Najee Harris. Through two weeks, Harris has 37 carries for 139 yards. He is on pace for nearly a 1200-yard season. The Steelers will want to attack the interior of this Chargers defense with the presence of Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack on the outside. This is a prime setup for Harris to get the bulk of carries to set Justin Fields up for success in his home debut.

JK Dobbins UNDER 50.5 rushing yards at -105

If there’s one area Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman wants to dominate is at the line of scrimmage. During his time as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator, he built a rushing attack with Lamar Jackson and a back-by-committee. In San Francisco, it was Colin Kaepernick and Frank Gore. Though the Chargers don’t have that lethal of a dual-threat quarterback, they have found success with former Ravens JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards.

However, the Steelers defense will want to take away or at least minimize what the offense does best. Through two weeks, the Steelers limited the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos to 89 and 64 yards respectively. This will be an area of emphasis as the Steelers look to force a hobbled Justin Herbert and the offense to be one-dimensional.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth in Denver on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024. — Ed Thompson / Steelers Now

Freiermuth OVER 25.5 receiving yards at -115

The Steelers are seeking an answer at the 2nd receiver spot. For now, the 2nd leading receiver is tight Pat Frieiermuth with over 4x as many yards as the closest Steelers 2nd receiver. Through two weeks he has eclipsed this mark in both games. With the dam feeling close to breaking, Freiermuth could lead the charge in a

Bonus: Jaylen Warren OVER 7.5 rush attempts at +110

Jaylen Warren missed time in preseason due to an injured hamstring. This led to a limited role in week 1 with only 2 rushing attempts. Last week in Denver, Warren got more involved in the offense including 9 rushing attempts. It is safe to say, he will be more involved as the Steelers continue to look to break things open against the Chargers. Warren’s burst and change of pace will be a must-have and lead to 8+ carries.

GAME PREDICTION

Pittsburgh Steelers (-1.5) COVER spread in a win -108, teams hit the OVER 36 at -108

The implied score for this matchup is 19-17 in favor of the Steelers. If you have followed the NFL for five minutes, you know this is absolutely the type of outcome the Steelers find themselves in time and time again. The Steelers have lost 5 of their last 6 home openers–the one win coming in an empty stadium in 2020. Despite this, the Steelers will want to secure another victory early as their schedule progressively gets more challenging. They will face a coaching staff with personnel they are familiar with. The message in the Steelers locker room has been the dam bursting open. The Steelers will cover the spread in a victory with both teams getting just over the O/U: 21-16.
