The Denver Broncos released former Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Avery Williamson from their practice squad on Thursday.

Williamson spent the second half of the 2020 season with the Steelers after coming over in a mid-year trade from the New York Jets, to help replace Devin Bush after he suffered an ACL injury.

Williamson‘s release is notable because the Steelers again in need of a replacement for Bush, who was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on Tuesday.

The Steelers are also with our fellow inside linebacker Marcus Allen, who was also placed on the COVID-19 list on Tuesday. That is left a team with Ulysees Gilbert III and rookie buddy Johnson behind Joe Schubert and Robert Spillane, who are expected to start against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
