Broncos Request to Interview Brian Flores for DC Position
The Denver Broncos are the latest team to put in an inquiry to interview Steelers senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach Brian Flores, who they are looking at for their defensive coordinator job.
It is the fourth defensive coordinator position and the fifth interview altogether for Flores, with the Broncos joining the Vikings, Falcons, Browns, and Cardinals in the fray for Flores’ services. The interview has not occurred just yet, but new Broncos head coach Sean Payton is looking to start constructing his staff, and Flores would be a strong start to just about any staff.
Brian Flores was down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile scouting for the Steelers. In the Cardinals head coaching race, it seems that others have entered the fray while Flores has yet to receive a second interview. However, the Broncos’ job is a new one to pop up and potentially offer Flores the promotion he is looking for right now.
With five interviews under his belt, Flores’ talent is still coveted around the league, and he does not appear to be in any hurry to make a jump off the Steelers coaching staff. With his level of comfortability, it is possible that Pittsburgh holds onto Flores as a key piece of their staff after all.
