Cleveland Browns cornerback Greedy Williams suffered a groin injury in the club’s preseason game against the New York Giants on Sunday. Williams was listed as questionable to return to the game, but did not. Head coach Kevin Stefanski did not have a further update on his status after the game.

Selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of LSU, Williams’ short career in Cleveland has already been plagued by injuries. Williams missed the entire 2020 season with a shoulder injury. He had 47 tackles and two passes defended in 12 games as a rookie in 2019. Williams is competing with rookie Greg Newsome II for the starting cornerback job opposite Denzel Ward.

The Browns defeated the Giants 17-13 to improve to 2-0 on the preseason. They’ll wrap their season prep at Atlanta next Sunday.
