The Cleveland Browns have officially been eliminated from playoff contention with the Los Angeles Chargers’ win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
Cleveland is 7-8 and can finish no better than 9-8, where they would not be able to overcome necessary tiebreakers to earn a spot.
The Browns will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers for their Week 17 matchup on Monday night. Though they cannot extend their season, Cleveland will be able to eliminate Pittsburgh from further contention for the second straight season. The Steelers’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after Cincinnati clinched the AFC North.
Cleveland ended Pittsburgh’s 2020 season with a Wild Card win over the Steelers at Heinz Field.
The line for the game fell about a half a point to Cleveland by 2.5 points after the news of the Browns’ elimination hit. Cleveland had been favored by 3 points at most books.
