Calvin Austin III Nearing Return From Foot Injury

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers could soon have positive injury news as wide receiver Calvin Austin III appears to be on the brink of returning, he said to Brian Batko. Austin suffered a foot injury the Friday prior to Pittsburgh’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Since then, he has not practiced, but he got out of the walking boot by the next Monday.

That means that the Steelers could have their electric speedy receiver back on the field against Detroit. Of course, the Steelers could potentially take that with caution and try not to push it too much. However, it all will depend upon just how comfortable the team feels with Austin’s injury as a whole.

Prior to the injury, Calvin Austin III was having an electric training camp. In fact, he was in line to have a significant role in the offense while out of the slot. The bigger question will now be whether or not Austin can suit up for the game. It seems that he is on track to be ready to head to Cincinnati and play.

Still, it has to be asked just how much the injury has put Austin behind the rest of the receivers. As such, if he can play against Detroit, it would help his ability to carve out a bigger role in the Steelers’ offense.
