The NFL Network’s NFL Top 100 slowly crept along on Sunday evening without any Steelers’ players cracking the list’s first 40-plus entries.

It was Cam Heyward that changed the narrative, coming in at 57th on this year’s iteration of the rankings. One of the many bright spots on the talented Pittsburgh defense, Heyward’s efforts in 2020 shot him up the list from his ranking of 84th prior to last season.

Heyward’s addition to the list also marks the fifth time that the defensive lineman has landed on the NFL Top 100. The list, which is comprised of votes from NFL players, became a preseason staple in 2011, which was, coincidentally, Heyward’s first season in the league.

In 15 appearances in 2020, Heyward totaled 54 tackles, four sacks and recorded a memorable interception in the team’s season opener against the New York Giants.
