Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers being on a eight-year playoff win drought, All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward is still confident that the team can win a Super Bowl. The Steelers have lost six straight playoff games and have gone one-and-done in their last five playoff appearances.

“I do. You know, I don’t shy away from that. Like, one, we didn’t reach our goals, but players can get better,” Heyward told former Steelers free safety Ryan Clark on The Pivot Podcast. “I can be better. If I don’t think that, like, I need to get out of this game, because I’m a competitor. You can’t tell me I can’t get in that door.”

If the Steelers want to win the Super Bowl in 2025, they’ll have to figure out an answer at the games most important position. Perhaps they’ll land four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, but at 41 years old, it would be surprising if the Steelers made a run at a Super Bowl with the grizzled veteran.

“I don’t know what happens with our situations and that’s why coaches and general managers get paid, but man, we have a group and we have a lot of guys that grew,” Heyward said. “Guys like Calvin Austin III grew. Guys like Joey Porter Jr is gonna continue to grow. Cory Trice Jr stepped in. You bring in a guy like Patrick Queen who was in a different system, you bring him into that, I think he can get better. I think our d-line could be better, I think it’s just our executions got to pick up. I’m gonna challenge that, I’m not going to run from that, but the men in the room can get it done.”

If Mason Rudolph ends up being the starter, so be it. Heyward has full confidence in Rudolph leading the team under center.

“Mason’s a good dude. I think Mason proved to a lot of Steelers fans, not just this past year, but last year when he stepped in for us, that he was ready. You know, if we don’t sign a quarterback, and we go in the year with Mason, I think we feel good about it,” Heyward said on his Not Just Football podcast. “Excited to have him back. He’s really a guy for the locker room, and a lot of guys vibe with him. So to bring him back, part of the group is special.”

As of now, the Steelers have +4500 odds to win the Super Bowl, 17th-ranked in the league.
