Can Steelers Stop Lamar AND Derrick Henry? | Steelers Morning Rush

Steelers Ravens Lamar Jackson Derrick Henry

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s how the addition of Derrick Henry has changed the formula for the Steelers defense when facing the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson.

The Steelers have had as much success against Jackson as anyone. He’s 1-4 as a starter against Pittsburgh, has never rushed for 100 yards in a game, and has more than twice as many turnovers as touchdowns.

The Pittsburgh defense has done that damage by paying more attention to Jackson than anyone else on the field in purple, essentially ignoring previous running backs JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards and the like.

But Derrick Henry is a different beast. The NFL’s leader in rushes, yards, yards per attempt, yards per game and touchdowns, Henry can take over a game all by himself. So will the Steelers be able to handle both? Even Mike Tomlin said he isn’t sure right now.

Alan breaks it down.
