CBS’ Gene Steratore Says Browns Should Have Been Penalized on Chris Boswell’s Fake Field Goal

Steelers K Chris Boswell Mike Tomlin

CLEVELAND — The Steelers’ fake field goal prior to halftime will receive much scrutiny from all around. Not only did the Steelers not convert on the play, but Browns defensive tackle Jordan Elliott put a nasty hit on Boswell. While there was no flag called, CBS Rules Expert and former NFL referee Gene Steratore believe there should have been roughing the passer called, as Boswell was a defenseless player.

The NFL will likely review the play during the week to see if there was an issue with the call. Had there been a call the Steelers have received a first down inside the ten as a result.
