CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco Leaves Ben Roethlisberger Out of Top 100 NFL Players Rankings
CBS Sports NFL columnist Pete Prisco unveiled his rankings of the Top 100 players entering the 2021 season on Tuesday, but there was one glaring omission from Pittsburgh’s perspective.
Prisco did not include Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Not only did Roethlisberger not appear as one of the top 100 players in football, but he was also not included in the “Just Missed” category, as offensive guard David DeCastro was.
14 quarterbacks were named ahead of Roethlisberger on the list, 17 if you include Tennessee’s Ryan Tannehill, Las Vegas’ Derek Carr and Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield on the “Just Missed” portion of the rankings.
When you factor all of that in, Prisco has Roethlisberger ranked 18th or worse among quarterbacks ahead of the 2021 season.
Roethlisberger, who turned 39 in March, threw for 3,803 yards and 33 touchdowns with ten interceptions last season.
Three Steelers players did appear in the rankings. Outside linebacker T.J. Watt was the second-highest rated defensive player at No. 6, while safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and defensive end Cam Heyward came in at No. 60 and 65, respectively.
