INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers will talk to most of the top offensive linemen in the NFL Draft by the time the process is over. With Chuks Okorafor and Trai Turner becoming free agents and questions across the offensive line, that should come as no surprise. So, when the MAC is producing a potential top tackle prospect like Central Michigan’s Bernhard Raimann, the Steelers will sit down, listen, and closely examine them.

A former tight end from Austria, Raimann’s journey is a winding one. He is drawing plenty of buzzes, including first-round interest. The Steelers are one of those teams interested, as Raimann had a formal meeting with them.

“I met with them two days ago,” Raimann said. “It was a great meeting. They pulled up some plays, the good and the bad plays from the season. I was just trying to be myself as much as I can. I was trying to explain myself. I definitely enjoyed it overall.”

His background in soccer is a unique background that many players at the position simply do not have. From playing wide receiver to tight end and then moving to offensive tackle, Raimann has been all over the football field. He understands nuances at 24 years old already. With his traits, the Steelers could certainly be interested in what Raimann can bring to the table.
