Chris Carter Joins Steelers Now

Chris Carter

I’m excited to announce my joining Steelers Now as a new full-time Steelers writer. I’m excited to have the opportunity to put my primary focus into covering the Steelers after that aspect of my work as a journalist, host and producer has been secondary in my career to other responsibilities.

As a proud Pittsburgh native, my educational background starts with Allderdice High School, continued at Cheyney Unviersity, but brought me back to my hometown to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law in 2014. While I didn’t study journalism or sports broadcasting, reading and studying the profession was a fun hobby.

My first experience writing about the Steelers was as a contributor/analyst for BehindTheSteelCurtain.com in 2013. After working my way to being a contributing editor there, I accepted an offer to join DK Pittsburgh Sports as a part-time Steelers analyst in 2016, where I would work for more than five years.

After working in the legal field for several years, I decided to switch my primary focus to sports journalism in 2020 while increasing my role at DK Pittsburgh Sports and taking on other opportunities.

During my time there, I gained more opportunities to cover the Steelers, Pitt football and basketball as well as local high school football for other outlets like WPXI and Steelers Nation Radio.

I also began to host the Locked on Steelers podcast on the Locked on Podcast network in 2019, and will continue to host that show while writing for Steelers Now.

While I’ve always been interested in various sports, football has always been the one I’ve felt the most at home covering. My father was a football coach for Peabody High School. So growing up, I spent countless hours learning Xs and Os, football technique and the ins and outs of the sport until I played in high school.

Since then, I’ve learned from other coaches, writers and scouts over the years to develop the background to write professionally about the sport. In time, I learned how to channel those skills into covering various sports. But I’m excited to put my full focus into the Steelers for the first time in my career, and see where that will take me with Steelers Now.
